Hearts vs Rangers | Celtic vs Motherwell: Scottish Premiership LIVE!

Hearts vs Rangers LIVE score team news and build-up ahead of the Premiership clash

The Scottish Premiership returns with a bang in the capital as Rangers travel across the M8 to Tynecastle.

Hearts suffered disappointment the last time they met the Light Blues, losing the Scottish Cup final after extra time back in May.

But Robbie Neilson and his men will be out for revenge with Rangers winning on their last visit to Gorgie in a dress rehearsal the week before that Hampden showdown.

If Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team can repeat that and pick up all three points then they will even hit the Scottish Premiership summit at least until champions and fierce rivals Celtic host Motherwell later.

But the men in maroon also have a big incentive as they can leapfrog Rangers on goal difference with a victory.

Both sides are in European action in midweek and will be desperate to go into their respective ties on a high.

It promises to be a cracker and you can follow all the build up, big match action and reaction right here in our LIVE blog.

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference ahead of their match at Hearts, Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that Kemar Roofe is back in training, doing โ€˜big partsโ€™ of the session with the squad, adding that they will keep assessing him ahead of the next set of fixtures.

The Ibrox side won their last match before the international break against Dundee United, however, this had been preceded by three consecutive defeats to Napoli, Ajax, and Celtic as Giovanni van Bronckhorstโ€™s men displayed a worrying lack of confidence and cutting edge.

The international break is finally over and Hearts will host Rangers at Tynecastle in one of the biggest Premiership games of the weekend.

Robbie Neilson's men are currently sitting in third place in the table and the manager has already admitted they are aiming to leapfrog their Ibrox counterparts into second. A win by at least two clear goals would see the Jambos climb above Rangers on goal difference. While Hearts will also hope to have some of their injured players back among the squad following the fortnight's break.

As for Rangers, they will be determined to make up for their poor form before the international break and know they can at least temporarily go to the top of the table if they take all three points in this game. Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have a strong squad to choose from and will aim to take full advantage of that.

Club sides have had the past fortnight off due to the international break with Steve Clarke and Scotland enjoying a successful outcome from their Nations League triple-header by securing promotion and a guaranteed Euro 2024 play-off spot.

But the full focus switches back to club duties with Giovanni van Bronckhorst looking to put pressure on champions Celtic by picking up three points and going top of the table before their clash with Motherwell. But it won't be easy with Hearts raring to go after a Europa Conference League win over RFS and victory over the Steelmen before the break.

Hearts can go level on points with Rangers with a win while the visitors will be desperate to leave Gorgie with maximum points after Celtic's shock loss to St Mirren Paisley in the last round of fixtures.

It's an interesting line-up for the visitors with Rabbi Matondo coming right in from the cold to start while Ben Davies also takes his place in the XI. And Antonio Colak is preferred up front with Alfredo Morelos on the bench.

Rangers: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic, Lundstram, Jack, Arfield, Matondo, Kent, Colak
